Summer trips

In May we went to:

FOOLS HOLLOW LAKE, AZ! Here is the sole picture I took. We stayed at a cabin which we loved! Lindsey and girls stayed with us, and cousins abounded. Grandma and Grandpa Hancock time was in abundance much to our kids happiness.

In June we went to:

FLAGSTAFF, AZ and hung out with more family. Lots of cousins and water balloons and food and all the great stuff that family reunions are made of. ;)

In July we went to:

PAGOSA SPRINGS, CO with my mom and dad. We had so much fun and appreciate their generosity and kindness. The kids had a great time with Grandma and Grandpa Jones.

We spent 46 hours combined in the car on our trips. It wasn't bad. I'm not joking! I was pleasantly surprised with how great the car time was.

Now we are home and I'm trying to establish "the rest of summer routine" which includes reading (or being read to for the illiterates of the family) for 20 minutes a day, swimming on Fridays, Splash Pad on Mondays, doing Daddy Math night once a week, reading "8 year old scriptures" with Miles, having kids help with chores throughout the week, and trying to get everybody tucked into bed around 8:30. Long live summer! We love summer. School starts end of August...until then we are going to live up every single beautiful summer minute we can.

Quotes 2016

Clay was jumping from tile to tile in our kitchen, then kind of spinning on each tile, careful to stay within the square shape of each tile. I asked, "What are you doing?" and Clay responded, "I'm square dancing!"

Clay, said every time he prays: "Help us to be like the Gospel."

Clay, said another time he prayed for each person in our family that they could "do good" in either school or work when he got to me he said: "...Please bless mom that she can go to the gym." I guess that sticks out to him!

We were walking into Wells Fargo when Paige saw a man with shoulder length hair and a beard getting into his car. I was holding Paige and she grabbed my face and turns my head toward the man. Then she says, "Mom, there's Jesus!" (November 2016)

Paige: "I look like nursery!" She said this as she looked at herself in the mirror after I got her dressed for church and had just finished doing her hair. (March 2017)

In school Miles was learning about the Great Depression. He was talking on and on about it to me and started talking about Herbert Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt. He was trying to tell me about the president known as FDR (Roosevelt) but instead he kept saying, "KFC" I couldn't figure out what he meant until he said, "You know, he was president after Hoover, everybody called him KFC". I had to explain he was actually known as FDR! (October 2017)
