Paigey-pie turns 4

Paige turned 4 on August 3rd, 2018. We had a wonderful birthday party for her that day. Her friends Lucy, Penny, Zac, and Penn came to a birthday party. We had cupcakes and fruit and played games like duck, duck, goose and hot potato. We ran through the sprinklers and had lots of fun playing.

Paige has grown so much! She just started pre-school in September. She's doing great and loves Miss Melanie, her preschool teacher, who also happened to be Clayton's preschool teacher. She is also doing the Upstart program this year, and is doing so well! She knows all her letters and sounds!!

She is such a sweet girl and great sister and daughter. We love the energy and fun she adds to our family. She just told me to write, "She is so much cute."

Paige was so excited to open her presents!

She is so good at getting dressed and putting on her shoes, making her bed, and brushing her teeth. It makes our mornings nice and smooth!

Swimming at the Springville Rec Center with her best bud and big brother.

We're still working on getting her hair to grow out from that haircut she gave herself in February.

Fun tub hair!

Mom's happy sidekick

First Day of Preschool 2018

One morning Paige said to me, "Can we make zucchini bread?" and it was a quieter morning and we had yummy zucchini from our neighbors so we did. It was lots of fun.

Here she is at the doctor's office on October 8th 2018. She comes with me to my "baby doctor" appointments and she's so fun to have along. She's really excited to be a big sister.

Happy 3rd Birthday Paigey!

For Paige's third birthday Grandma Jones came down from Salt Lake City to celebrate with us. Mommy and Hailey made a pink butterfly cake, strawberry flavored. Paige got several beenie boos, her favorite toy lately. She also got new clothes from Grandma and Grandpa Hancock and a pink princess dress for playing dress ups from Great-Aunt Jacque.

Dear Paige,

On August 3rd, 2017 you turned 3. I love you Paige. At age three you love your kittens, Patches and Cream Puff. You hold them like babies and sing to them and sometimes squeeze them way too tight. You and Hailey share a bed and you love Hailey so much. You call her "little mommy" and she gladly holds you or helps you whenever she can.

You love to sing! Your favorite songs are Disney songs, but you also make up your own songs and sing them to yourself in the car and at home.

Your best friend is Maddie Bezzant. Every night when you pray you thank Heavenly Father for each individual member of your family, and then you also thank him for Maddie, for Brielle, and for Taliah. You two can play happily for so long. We call the Bezzants our "Utah cousins" because the feel like family and we see them so often that it feels like that.

You love to eat 'peanut butter pops'. (Spoonfuls of peanut butter.) I did the same thing as a kid. As a super tiny, skinny girl (your 3rd year well check was today and you weigh 27 pounds and are in the 5th percentile for height) I figure a spoonful of extra protein, fat, and calories could not be a bad thing!

You love to wear dresses. You love to get yourself dressed. You love to ride your trike.

Oh Paige, thank you for being my little buddy this school year while the rest of the kids go off to school. I love you and I love to spend my days with you.

Love,

Mom

First day of school August 22nd, 2017. Clay, her best bud, is at school all day long now. She's having a picnic on the porch.

August 21, 2017--This is during the solar Eclipse. The tree shadows were creating these really cool crescent suns all over our driveway.

She loves to ride her trike all over the yard.

Two little ones fast asleep. August 2017

Paigey and best friend Maddie Bezzant, giving a ride to our kitten Cream Puff.

At the MTC open house. Maybe she'll be a missionary someday!

She had to be carried up Mt. Timpanogos, it was a great workout! But she did walk almost all the way down by herself.

She is particularly attached to this kitten, Cream Puff (Patches once scratched her when she was being too squeezy). Cream Puff will let her do a LOT to him and he just sits there and patiently takes it. They finally wore each other out!!

An edible pink butterfly makes for a good 3rd birthday!

Paige at age 2 1/2

"Cupcape"- Paige loves cupcakes. I love how she says it. Paige loves to do puzzles. It's so fun to sit down with her and do puzzles. I love these snugly, quiet moments. She loves the "baby bug" books from the library, she loves to play with play-doh. She loves her baby dolls.

Yesterday I tried to hold her in my arms and she said, "Mom, you don't want to hold me!" as she wiggled out of my arms. Then she ran alongside me, happy as could be. She LOVES to step in the snow. We always have to walk through the crunchy snow patches when we are running errands. She is very independent, always wanting to climb into the car (NOT be picked up and put in), wanting to put the library books back into the book slots, open the doors at stores.

Every day when we wave goodbye to Clay as he gets on the kindergarten bus she says "I miss Clay!" with a little sad frown even before the bus pulls away from our house.

She's a girly-girl. She always wants to pick out her own clothes. 90% of the time she will choose a dress, tights, and her "pretty shoes".

She watched as Clay practiced tying his shoes every day and so now she tries to tie her shoes too. She insisted on potty training in January. I was NOT ready and I was very hesitant but she would only wear underwear and she did great from day one--she even STAYS DRY at night! The first of all my kids to not need pull ups at night!

We love our beautiful, sweet Paigey-pie!

Waiting for our order at Subway last week.

Waiting at the doctor with an ear infection, but still sweet and full of smiles.

I have a picture swinging on this swing every 6 months since she was born. I'd like to make a collage of the photos in order and hang them in her room. This is from February 2017.

Every Martin Luther King Day we go to BYU and serve others. They have TONS of service projects to choose to participate in. It's one of our favorite traditions. This year we brought my aunt along for the day. It was so fun.

Paige turns 2!

Dear Paige,

I love you! At age two you are full of things to say. You say, "Dooo it" when you want your siblings to do something for you, you hand them the item then repeat "Dooo it". Do you know how you wake up every morning? With a comment. You call out something to me. It is quite funny. For example the other morning at about 7am you called out "I'm poopy!" And, sure enough, you were. :) Often you'll say, "I'm awake!" or "Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom."

You're a mommy's girl. You prefer mom to anyone, even dad. You love your pink minky blankets. You love both of them. You'll ask "other blankie?" if you only have one.

Your best friend in the whole world is probably a tie--between Clayton and Maddie. You love Clay. You are having fun with him each morning before he catches the kindergarten bus. Maddie Bezzant lives right upstairs and you love her something fierce. Maddie loves you too, she calls you "Paigey-pie". Heidi and I go walking with you and Maddie (and let's not forget baby KC!) in strollers and it is SO fun. You and Maddie love to chat, snack, and play at the park (we walk to the park, let you play, then walk back home). I love walking with Heidi too. She's a dear friend. You are familiar with the Bezzant children almost as much as you are familiar with your own siblings--Kallon, Brielle, Maddie, KC--although you are scared of the older boys Hunter and Jake. They truly are like our Utah cousins, and their children have been a big part of your two year old life.

You love stuffed animals, dogs, cats, our turtle Sarah. You love your nursery teachers Bro and Sis Cook. You used to sit on Sis Cook's lap for most of nursery, snuggling up to her. She liked that.

You are pure, full of love for everyone, forgiving quickly when someone makes you sad, and full of real joy. You are full of everything that is good and I think of you when I think of the scripture that says we must "become as a little child".

I am honored to be your mother. So glad you came to our family!

Love,
Mommy

Paige's special moment, right before bed July 2, 2016

Paige will be 23 months old in two days. Tonight this very sweet moment happened:

Every night it is usually me (Tiffany) who tucks Paige into bed. She settles into her crib with her favorite blankets. I sing her a song and tickle her face. Then I help her say her prayers. She folds her little arms and very carefully repeats every single word I prompt her to say in order to "pray". After that Paige and I say good night. I say "sweet dreams" she says "sweet dreams" I say "see you in the morning!" she says "see you in the morning!" So cute! Thankfully she never fights bedtime. (Not true with naptime!!)

Tonight Joey tucked Paige into bed. About 30 second after he had left her room Paige was wailing! I could hear her calling my name too--"Mommy! Mommy!"  I was surprised, she is such an easy kid to put to bed and crying this time of day is very unusual.

I went into her room and asked her (by the way, she is a VERY good talker at this point, I think the best of all the kids at such a young age) anyway, I asked her "What's wrong?" She said, "Mommy! Prayer!"

I knew exactly what had happened. Joey, who isn't familiar with this little ritual Paige and I share each night at her crib, had forgotten to help her say her prayers. She wanted help saying her prayers and it was important enough to her to start to cry and call for someone!

I helped her say her prayers and she and I happily exchanged our familiar partings, "sweet dreams, see you in the morning!"

I was touched by her desire to pray. I was impressed that saying her bedtime prayers is so important to her at this age. I love our sweet Paigey-pie, she is such a special little girl and an example to me already!

Brielle (another neighbor Paige sees in our house a lot)
ME!!! (whenever we sing "Popcorn popping on the Apricot Tree" she always says "ME!!!" very emphatically when we get to the part of the song that says me.)
Jesus
CHEESE!! (Sometimes when she sees that I'm taking a picture she will say "cheese!" which she smiles. Can you kind of see it in some of these pictures? She says "cheeeeeeeeeeeeeese." If you look at the way she smiles you can imagine her as she's saying the "eeeeeeeee" part which is when I usually take the picture. :)

One thing I've noticed about Paige at this age is that she is very timid. We've taken a few trips in the last few months to see various family and each time she meets up with her grandparents or other adults that want to get to know her she becomes very quiet and wants mom or dad to hold her. But, she DOES love nursery without her parents there! I'm not sure why she's so timid to her grandparents but not so timid in nursery.

She loves to read books. She enjoys music. She likes watching "Curious George" and "Baby Signing Time" and she does do a few of the signs. She likes to be outside, especially now that it's not as cold. I can see we will be having an outdoor summer!!
