Hawaii Trip 2022

About 11 years ago Joey and I went to Hawaii and had so much fun! I really wanted to take Miles and Hailey with us to Hawaii this time. We spent 5 days in Oahu and then 5 days on Maui. We saw the Dole plantation and Waimea Bay, BYU Hawaii, the Polynesian Cultural Center, we went snorkeling at Molokini Crater and 'Turtle Town' off Maui and saw lots of tropical fish and sea turtles. It was fun to see the sea turtles on the beach snoozing.

Miles at Dole Plantation

Dole Plantation had the most beautiful botanical gardens with lots and lots of lizards!

I thought this sign at the Dole Plantation was really fun.

Lizards everywhere! Can you spot the lizard?

One thing I love about Hawaii is often being the only people on a beach. The beaches are so clean and beautiful too. It really is such a magical place and I would love to live there.

First night in Hawaii, So very tired

Shave ice is a must in Hawaii! So yummy! Matsumoto Shave Ice, Oahu

The Polynesian Cultural Center is SO MUCH FUN :) We had lots of fun eating their delicious buffet dinner, trying all the Polynesian dishes and more.

They had yummy drinks waiting for everyone when we arrived at the buffet

BYU Hawaii

Laie, Hawaii Temple

Miles tried this purple ice cream at the PCC that he loved. He had about 7 helpings.

We remember Kap from the last time we went to Hawaii! He was still there working at the PCC. He's really funny and has his own art studio.

Molokini and Turtle Town Snorkling

We saw so many turtles just sleeping on the sand in Maui.

For Christmastime we got the kids snorkeling gear. Hailey especially liked Snorkeling.

This was on our last day. It was bitter-sweet to leave Hawaii. I could totally move there.
On Maui we found a little bakery that had the most amazing malasadas and coconut turnovers. I could have eaten so many of them.

We took the boat called Calypso to go out to Molokini crater to go snorkeling. They had breakfast and lunch for us. We were able to see a mama whale and a baby whale out on the open sea. It was so cool. The baby whale mimicked what the mama did.

We did a lot of hiking in Maui. We took the road to Hana, which made Miles and Hailey both get very car sick, but they were pretty good sports about it. We saw so many beautiful waterfalls. One of my favorite things to do in Hawaii for sure, too bad the road is so windy though.

Can you spot the turtle? Sometimes the turtles were the exact same color of the rocks.

It was cool to stay right next to a little cove that proved to be perfect for snorkling. It was right by a restaurant called "Mama's Fish House" which made food that smelled divine. They have a several month waiting list so we weren't able to eat there. Maybe next time!

This picture was taken on Oahu, Wiamea Bay. There's a large rock there that a lot of people including Joseph and Miles jumped off and into the ocean. The water gets pretty deep pretty quickly. While we were there we saw a huge ocean swell come sweeping up onto the shore. We also got to see dolphins and whales out in the distance. It was so cool! Hailey and I collected some seashells and Joseph and Miles did a lot of jumping off the rock. The water was fun to play in but the waves could be really strong and knock us off our feet from time to time. Across the highway from Wiamea Bay is Wiamea Valley. It's a sacred place where ancient Hawaiians used to live. There's a beauitful botanical gardens and a hike to a waterfall. We didn't take the hike this time because it cost $20 per person which we were not expecting. But it was beautiful and next time I'd love to take it for sure.

This is the spot where 11 years ago Joseph and I took a picture at. We look older now but it was great to be back at the same place. It's really magical. This is at the PCC.

One thing I love about Hawaii is how clean the beaches are and how often we can find ourselves the only ones on the beaches. Just so beautiful. I can't wait to come back soon!

Near where we were staying on Oahu there was a little beach walking distance down the street, about five minutes away. We found a cute little tree swing made out of an old branch. During high tide the water would be under the tree swing. The kids enjoyed playing here each day for at least a few minutes before we'd head to other beaches or sites.

On Sunday we listened to General Conference and then took a beautiful hike on the Hau'ula Loop Trail. The scenery was really pretty.

This shave ice place is our favorite and a must stop! They also have great souvenirs!

Joey's still my main squeeze!

We enjoyed two days at the PCC! There were so many fun shows and activities.

It wouldn't take much to get me to move to Hawaii! I'd love it!

Listening to General Conference on Sunday while on Oahu.

A lovely Sunday hike near where we were staying.

The views from the Hau'ula Loop Trail were amazing.

Joey and I could have just gone the two of us, but we wanted Miles and Hailey to experience the joys of this wonderful world alongside us. We love these kids very much.
